Extra Credit
For the extra credit I chose the compound hydrogen peroxide. I chose this because I know that once some people get their ears pierced, they use this to clean and disinfect their ears. I really wanted to know why. Well hydrogen peroxide has strong oxidizing properties. It can also be used as bleach. It is used as a disinfectant, antiseptic, and oxidizer. I think that it is really cool that we use a chemical compound that can be really powerful on our ear piercings. But it is diluted so that it doesn't hurt or harm us. When it is put on your skin and not diluted hydrogen peroxide can cause temporary whitening to skin. This is why I think that hydrogen peroxide is interesting.

Hi, Gabby - Just so you know, I have recently gotten information that says that Hydrogen Peroxide is still to strong to put on our tender tissue - even diluted. Actually soap and water are the best cleners for the skin, especially when iit is injures and raw - or pierced!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog page - and the photos of your dance competitions are great. I 'd like to see some of you actually dancing! - Mrs. Burtnett
I didn't cath a couple of mis-spellings there - "to" should be "too" and "cleners" should be "Cleansers". Afterall, I DO teach ART!
ReplyDeletehaha :) Thanks for the information! I would love to dance for you guys sometime!
